Swinburne Open Education

[edit]

This section is uncited and was added by a user who has made no other contributions on Wikipedia. It's written very much as advertising - in fact, much of the text is copied directly from the Swinburne Open Education website. Unless someone wants to do a full rewrite of the section, I think it should be removed. tamasys (talk) 04:34, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No objection. This is potentially the most COI article about an Australian university on Wikipedia. It regularly receives edits pertaining to the smallest affiliations or achievements of the university from overseas IP addresses in the same location going back several years. There's another topic about this above. The list in the infobox alone had became so long that it was invisible from the infobox and made no visual difference to the article when I removed it. I hadn't yet removed the affiliations from the body text, but this is an ongoing issue with the most recent additions less than two weeks ago (1, 2). I don't yet think it's a case of paid editing since the edits started before the sockpuppet accounts using the university name (which may or may not have been the university itself) were blocked. I'm adding a number of templates to the article to reflect this. For some reason, articles related to this university always receives promotional edits like this one on the former Swinburne Online article. The article about it's Malaysian campus has also regularly had large amounts of content removed due to puffery and promotional content. These are separate issues from the content regularly being added to this article. 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓔𝓭𝓾𝓬𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓐𝓾𝓭𝓲𝓽𝓸𝓻 11:57, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure which templates would be best to add but I've added an advert template for now. 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓔𝓭𝓾𝓬𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷 𝓐𝓾𝓭𝓲𝓽𝓸𝓻 19:51, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Film school

[edit]

Just a note here because I don't have time to do it yet as it will require quite a lot of work to sort it all out - discovered that Swinburne Film and Television School got absorbed into the VCA in 1990. one ref - but I have found several others on Trove that need investigating.
